COPYRIGHTHeads of Departments are responsible for compliance with copyright legislation and any agreements that the University enters into with copyright licensing bodies. Essentially, permission must be sought from the rights-holder before copyrighted materials can be duplicated unless it is covered by a licence or allowed under statute. Failure to comply with copyright legislation may result in criminal or civil liability. Several licensing agencies have been established by rights-holders. The University has entered into agreements with these bodies. The agreements grant the University specific licence, set within strict rules, to copy elements of certain works. COPYRIGHT LICENSING
