Photocopying newspaper articles using the NLA (Newspaper Licensing Agency) licence
The Newspaper Licensing Agency represents all national newspapers and some regional newspapers. The University of Reading has taken out a comprehensive licence for the national newspapers, the Reading Chronicle and Reading Evening Post.

- Daily Star and Daily Star Sunday
- Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph
- Evening Standard
- Daily Express and Express on Sunday
- Financial Times
- Guardian
- Independent and Independent on Sunday
- Mirror and Sunday Mirror
- News of the World
- Observer
- Reading Chronicle
- Reading Evening Post
- Sun
- Sunday People
- The Times and Sunday Times
Permitted copying
The NLA grants the Licensee (the University) a non-exclusive and non-transferable right and licence to make photocopies and to transmit faxes from cuttings taken from newspapers for distribution to its personnel and students. These must be only for internal use and/or for the education and instruction of the University's students.
Copying limits
Up to 250 copies may be made of any newspaper article. Copies may be made on plain paper or otherwise to enable projection onto a screen. Advertisements may be copied.
Each copy should carry the following notice:
NLA licensed copy. No further copies may be made except under licence.
Such photocopies are not to be photocopied by the recipient or otherwise republished by them to any person who is not employed by the University or is not a fellow student.
